Professional Truck Driving at Delta Technical College
DTC’s has two truck driving schools in Mississippi: 1) Horn Lake, MS campus and 2) Ridgeland, MS campus. All of DTC’s truck driving classes are taught by instructors with real-world experience. - WHAT IS A TRUCK DRIVER?
A career truck driver is responsible for transporting goods from one place to another. This can include anything from cars to packages, with route lengths and type of vehicle varying depending on the industry chosen. The majority of truck drivers are long-haul drivers who operate trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) capacity exceeding 26,000 pounds. Professional truck drivers may cross state lines.
- WHAT IS THE SALARY OF A TRUCK DRIVER?
The Bureau of Labor and Statistics lists the median annual wage for heavy and tractor-trailer drivers in May 2021 as $48,310 per year.
- IN WHAT AREAS OF THE COUNTRY CAN I WORK AS A TRUCK DRIVER?
Some truck drivers choose to work long-haul routes that take them across state lines and even to Mexico and Canada, and others, depending on the industry, drive shorter or shared routes.
