Expand Your Skills with Dental Radiology Certification

Take the next step in your dental assisting career by earning your dental radiology certification.

The Dental Radiology Seminar provides the foundational knowledge and hands-on training needed to perform dental radiography safely and confidently. During the 1-day seminar, you’ll learn the fundamental principles of dental radiology while preparing to meet Mississippi’s certification requirements.

After successfully completing the seminar, you’ll receive a certificate of completion. At the end of the seminar, Delta Technical College will assist you with the Mississippi State Board online application process. Your certificate and application will be submitted to the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners for review.

Upon successful completion of the seminar and state application process, participants are eligible to apply for a Radiology Permit Holder Certification through the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners.

Registration Fee

The registration fee for the Dental Radiology Seminar is $150.

How to Register

  1. Complete the required registration forms.
  2. Contact your local Delta Technical College campus to arrange payment.
  3. Your seat will be reserved once your payment has been received.

Applying for Your Radiology Permit

After successfully completing the seminar, you’ll be eligible to apply for your Radiology Permit Holder Certification through the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners.

When submitting your application, you’ll need:

  • Current BLS CPR card
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Passport-sized photo
  • Dental Radiology Seminar Certificate of Completion
  • Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners application fee

  • Diagnostics
  • Quality of X-rays (how to produce quality radiographs)
  • Film exposures (what causes errors on the film)
  • Bisecting principle and technique
  • Paralleling principle and technique, including a full-mouth radiographic survey and bite-wing series
  • Special radiographs on various patients, including occlusal, pediatric, edentulous, endodontic radiographs and special needs/compromised patients
  • How to mount X-rays
  • Common radiograph errors that occur during exposure
