We know this is a challenging and uncertain time for many, so the team at Delta Technical College (DTC) is here to provide resources and information to both current and future students as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Below is a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help address any questions or concerns you may have. If you still need assistance, please call your campus and press option 3 to speak to someone directly. To find your campus phone number, visit our campus listing page.
When will campus be open again?
DTC’s campus locations are now open following safety and social distancing practices, with a combination of online and rotating lab schedules for students to receive their hands-on training.
DTC takes the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff very seriously, and will continue to follow the guidelines offered by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), as well as those set forth by our campus communities, including the Mississippi Department of Health (MDH), our accrediting agency, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), and the county health department guidelines for each campus location.
I’m a current student, when do I go back to class?
Ridgeland, MS Campus: Non-welding students in module 1 will continue with their online learning at this time. All other students need to contact their instructor to receive their schedule for attending in-person lab on campus. To find your instructor’s contact information please visit the Faculty Directory on our website.
Horn Lake, MS Campus: Module 1 students in select programs will continue with their online learning at this time. Students need to contact their instructor to receive their schedule for attending in-person lab on campus. To find your instructor’s contact information please visit the Faculty Directory on our website.
How will online learning work for hands-on training?
While we know that we cannot replace all the hands-on training you receive at the campus, we are working in conjunction with the publishers of several programs’ textbooks to offer an interactive online environment for each program.
Through online learning, DTC students will complete much of the classroom theory portion of their program. Then, when students can safely return to campus, their hands-on training in our labs will begin!
What if I do not have access to a computer or internet at home to use the online learning platform?
Your instructor will be reaching out to you individually to prepare you for the online learning platform. The online learning platform is accessible via smart phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. Several internet providers, including Spectrum and Comcast, are offering free internet access during this time, which may be an option for you. For more information, visit the Spectrum or Comcast website.
We do understand that there will be varying situations regarding your access to the online platform, and our team will be here to assist you on an individual basis. If you have any concerns about your access to the online learning platform, please let your instructor know. To find your instructor’s contact information, see the Faculty Directory.
I’m a current student, does this mean I will not graduate my program on time?
DTC staff is working to ensure that current DTC students who are close to graduation are work force ready as soon as possible. The class cancellation from March 16th-March 27th was considered Spring Break and replaced the regularly scheduled Summer Break that is typically observed in late June. Due to this, some current students’ graduation dates will not be impacted.
However, graduation dates for some students may change, and any changes in graduation dates will be communicated to students by their instructor, Director of Education, or Campus President.
I have an appointment to meet an Admissions Rep on campus, do I need to reschedule?
No, you do not need to reschedule your appointment. During this time, DTC is offering virtual (phone and/or video) appointments. If you currently have an appointment scheduled with an DTC Admissions or Financial Aid Representative, DTC will be in contact with next steps.
Can I still enroll at DTC, even when campus is closed?
Yes, DTC is still enrolling! During this time, DTC is offering virtual (phone and/or video) appointments. If you would like to make a virtual appointment, please call 866-733-6652 or request more information here.
