1st Annual High School Welding Competition
Delta Technical College is proud to present our 1st Annual High School Welding Competition. Our Horn Lake campus will offer the competitions for High Schools and Vocational Schools in the area. The competition is a great learning experience for all students involved. This will give your students a chance to see how their skills compare to other students in the area.
The top 3 winners from each competition will receive

Third place-$100

Top 10 winners will receive medals
Students should practice welding out of position (uphill, horizontal, and flat) using 7018 rod or equivalent.

In preparation for the written exam, students should be familiar with basic welding terminology and basic blueprint readings. There will be an emphasis on welding terminology.

8:00 am-9:00 am Introduction of welding staff and written exam

9:00 am-11:00 am Students will be assigned booths and begin welding

11:00 am-11:45 am Lunch (provided)

11:45 am-12:00 pm Instructors will grade projects

12:00 pm-12:30 pm Presentation of awards and pictures
Friends and family are more than welcome to attend to the competition. This is a great opportunity for you and your students to come see the shop and compete against other schools. Seniors and juniors only are allowed to compete and we ask each school to bring a maximum of 5 students. If a junior wins a tuition waiver, we will honor that the next year. Students can participate in multiple contests but can’t win multiple tuition waivers.
